Apple users, welcome to the pc world...

Apple users are finding out that they are not all prevented from getting viruses (as many misinformed Apple users have spouted in the past). I'd like to offer you a warm welcome to the real world ;-)

Um, there still are no Mac OS X viruses or other security exploits in the wild. There have been some documented vulnerabilities, a few of which, like this one, remain unpatched, but none of them have led to issues for users. None. As in zero.

That's not to say that someday there won't be some kind of legitimate security exploit, but this is not at all like the reality for Windows users. The reality for Mac users is that they don't have to worry about viruses. Or anti-virus software. Or updates to their anti-virus software. Or clicking the wrong link on the Web or opening the wrong file or opening the wrong email. At least for now.

Hey, look, a nearly legitimate trojan exploit in the wild: http://arstechnica.com/journals/apple.ars/2008/06/20/flaw-in-apple-remote-desktop-exploited-via-trojan. Still no viruses, though.
